Berkshires Marketplace, Town Of Cheshire INVITATION TO BID Asphalt Resurfacing Wells Road/Windsor Road The Town Of Cheshire, acting through the Selectboard, will accept sealed bids until Tuesday, September 20, 2016 by 7:00PM at the Cheshire Town Hall, 80 Church Street, Cheshire, MA, at which time they will be opened and read aloud. All bids shall be clearly marked "Resurfacing Wells and Windsor Roads 2016". Absolutely no bids will be accepted after that time. The sealed bids are for Asphalt Paving Resurfacing on Wells and Windsor Roads. At a depth of 2", the job requires an estimated 3,250 tons of bituminous concrete. A 2" milled wedge joint will be required @ each end of the project. All materials and workmanship are to meet the latest MassDOT Type 1-1 Bituminous Concrete specifications and shall include all equipment, labor and materials for a complete in place procedure. Two 10-ton rollers are required for this project. A sufficient number of trucks to provide the paver with uninterrupted service of the bituminous hot mix asphalt are required. The plane and finished surface, along with the end joints, shall be smooth and acceptable to the Highway Superintendent. The Town of Cheshire reserves the right to take a sample out of any haul truck at any given time for the purpose of testing the quality and temperature of all the materials. Contractors shall guarantee their work and materials for a period of one year. Prevailing wage rates are in effect and shall apply under Chapter 149, sections 26 and 27. All contractors and subs shall be OSHA 10 certified. Bid specifications are for contractors who perform this type of work. All bidders wishing to receive a bid package must be Mass DOT prequalified and appear on the email list from Boston. Bid specifications are available for pick up at the Highway Department office/garage located at 6 Main Street, Cheshire, MA. during normal business hours, Monday- Friday, 7:00am-3:00pm. This contract contains price adjustment provisions. Price adjustments will be in accordance with MassDOT special provisions for adjustments for Hot Mix Asphalt Mixtures. (Chapter 303, Section 60. Acts of 2008). The base price for asphalt cement on this contract is $ 355.00, dated August 2016. Each bid shall be accompanied by a security or bond in the amount of 5% of the bid price. The successful bidder must furnish a 100% performance bond. Contractors must be prequalified under MGL chapter 29 section 8b in accordance with 729 CMR 5.00 by MassDOT. No bidder may withdraw their bid for a period of thirty days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays after the bid opening date. Work to be completed within 30-days of contract awarding. The Town of Cheshire, acting through its Selectboard, reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all bids if deemed to be in the Town's best interest.
